Salatul Tasbeeh

Bismillahir Ramanir Raheem

‘This is a special prayer the Prophet (s.’a.s.) taught Ibn ‘Abbaas, that if he offers it, as will be explained, Allah will forgive ten kinds of his sins: The first of it and the last of it, the old of it and the new of it, one done unintentionally and one done intentionally, the small of it and the big of it, one done in secret and one done in manifest.’ (This introduction was taken from the USC-MSA Compendium of Muslim Texts website.)

Pray four Rakat, in each read al-fatihah, and
another surat…after you finish reciting (in the first rakat) say, while you
are standing:

SUBHANALLAH, AL-HAMDULILAH, LAILAHAHILLAALLAH, ALLAHU AKBAR.

Say it:
15x after reciting surah fatiha and the 2nd surah.
10x during ruku after saying prescribed glorifications=25
10x in Qu’ma (after the ruku) = 35
10x in the 1st sujdah after prescribed glorifications =45
10x in q’adah (between the sujood) = 55
10x in 2nd sujdah after prescribed glorifications = 65
10x in sitting position after sajdah before getting up for the second rakah=75

that is 75 in each rakaat, do it in all four rakaat.

If you can pray this prayer every day then do it, but if you cannot then
do it once a week, if you cannot than once every month, then if you cannot
then once a year, if you cannot then once in a lifetime.

I love this prayer! I do it every thursday night, alhamdulillah. When I can’t offer salat and it’s Thrusday night, I’d do 300 SUBHANALLAH, AL-HAMDULILAH, LAILAHAHILLAALLAH, ALLAHU AKBAR anyway.

    What a beautiful prayer!

What exactly would you like to know?

One should recite Zikr/tasbeeh with concentration and facing qiblah. 1 Dhikr Rasul S.A.W told Hadhrat Fatima (R.A) was 34 * Allahu Akbar 33*SubhanAllah 33*Alhadulillah.

Our Beloved Prophet Mohammed (Sallallaho Alihiwassallam) said to his uncle (father’s brother) Sayyiduna Abbass (may Allah be pleased with him) Oh uncle shall I not give you Shall I not grant you Shall I not award you Shall I not do mercy on you When you do 10 things Allah will forgive your sins: of the future and of the past; new and old; those you have forgotten and those you did knowingly; big and small; hidden and revealed. Then he (Sallallaho Alihiwassallam) explained the taught the way to pray Salatul Tasbih and then said if you can pray this salah once a day, if you can not pray once a day then every Friday, and even if this is not possible then once a month and even if this is not possible then once a year and even if this is not possible then at least once in a lifetime (Abu’Dawood & Tirimzi)

You are obviously not an aalim so unless you are don’t just ask uneducated questions like you did rather go and consult reputable Ulema for all you Deen related questions, furthermore you should not even be reading those Ahadith Kitaabs without the proper guidance of an Aalim as you will most definitely run into problems as you do not know reasons behind why certain things were said and in what context. People try to use logic in Deen and this is very silly as Deen itself is based on the belief in Allah and Rasullullah S.A.W whom we have not seen, nor can we see the angels etc… When it comes to Deen we should be very carefull at the things we utter and ask. If I have offended anyone please forgive me. :o) Just reading the Quraan and Ahadith without guidance is dangerous look at the Salafis and other sects, a result of following the nafs and trying to apply logic in Deen. May Allah save us and give us all Hidayat Aameen. Once again please forgive me for anything hurtfull that was said. Wa Salam

    Brother and Sisters

    Al-Salam `alaykum

It is recorded in Sunan Abi Dawud and other books of hadith that Rasulullah (sallallahu `alayhi wasallam once said to his uncle Hadrat `Abbas (r.a.) : O Abbas!O my uncle! Shall I not give you a gift? Shall I not show you something by means of which Allah Ta`ala will forgive your sins, the first and the last of them, the past and recent, the unintentional and the intentional, the small and huge, the secret and open?

Rasulullah (sallallahu `alayhi wasallam) then taught him the Salah al-Tasbih. Furthermore he advised him that it be offered daily, if possible. If not then every Friday or once a month or once a year or at least once in one’s life time.

10 times after surah after fatiha.

I have checked the link :http://www.islamicacademy.org/html/Articles/English/Salat_Tasbih.htm

And I understand fully the steps for the first ra’kaat except the two parts that you’ve mentioned :-

    1. ( In 15x after reciting surah fatiha and the 2nd surah. )

–Here you mention the 2nd Surah, yet this is the first rak’aah. So do you mean that there is more than one Surah, after Al-Fatiha?

2.( 10x in sitting position after sajdah before getting up for the second rakah=75 )

    — After the 2nd Sujdah, when getting up saying ‘Allahu Akbar’, isn’t that the end of the first rak’aah? I ask because you’ve mentioned ‘…in the sitting position…’

Alhamdulillah I came across pages such as these, I have been praying for many years and just recently I realized there is also Salat-al-Qaza and the Salatul Tasbih.

Thank you and Azzak Allah Khair !

You say it is dangerous to read hadith without proper guidiance from an ulama. How else are we supposed to seek knowledge about our religion? Its nt like one can find an ulama everywhere. Tell me what happens to people living in countries where Islam isn’t strong? As it is all we have got to use in understanding our religion is logic. And why should logic not apply to deen? Are you implying that the deeds of the holy Prophet P.B.U.H were illogical?
All I am trying to do is to understand the religion I am practicing. Jazakumullah khayran.

    How to perform Salatul Tasbih?

This salaat (namaz) is offered in four rakat at a time and can be read in any part of the day and night besides Zawal and Sunrise and Sunset makrooh times, keeping in mind the forbidden times for performing Salat (namaaz). But is is preferred before Zuhr (Fatawa Alamgeeri)
The Tasbih to be read in Salaat-Ul-Tasbeeh:
” Subhaan Allahi Wal Hamdulillahi Wa Laa ilaha illal Laahu Wallahu Akbar ”
    Method:
Goal is to recite above Tasbih 300 times in Four Rakah with the following method.
In the first rakaat, after reading Sana “Subhaana Kallahumma…”, read the above tasbih 15 times.
Now recite Aaoz “Aoozubillah…”, Bismillah “Bismillah…”, Then read sura Fatiha and a Surah or minimum of three small Ayayhs then read the tasbih 10 times again.
Go to ruku saying Takbeer (Allah Hoo Akbar), after reciting “Subhaana Rabbiyal Azeem” minimum of three times read the tasbih 10 times in Ruku.
Saying “Samee Allahu Liman Hamidah Rabbana Lakal Hamdh” get up from ruku to qiyam position.
Now read the tasbih 10 times.
Go to Sajdah saying Takbeer (Allah Hoo Akbar) and after reciting “Subhaana Rabbiyal A’la” minimum of three times read the tasbih 10 times in Sajdah.
Now go after first Sajdah go to Jalsa (sitting position) saying Takbeer (Allah Hoo Akbar). Sitting in Jalsa read tasbih 10 times.
Go to sajda again saying Takbeer (Allah Hoo Akbar) and after reciting “Subhaana Rabbiyal A’la” minimum of three times read the tasbih 10 times in Sajdah again.
Get up to begin 2nd rakat saying Takbeer (Allah Hoo Akbar).
Do rakah #2 in same fashion, but before reading Bismillah “Bismillah…”, and Surah Fatiha, read the tasbih 15 times. Follow the rest as you did in first Rakat.
After second Sajdah of Second Rakat sit in Qaidah Oola (first sitting) read Attahiyat, Durood and Dua then get up for 3rd rakaat without saying Salam.
Begin third Rakat, just like the first Rakat, with Sana “Subhaana Kallahumma…”, read the above tasbih 15 times. Follow the rest as you did in first Rakat untill you sit for Qaidah Akihra (last sitting) after second sajdah of fourth Rakah.
In Qaidah Akihra Attahiyat, Durood, Dua finish Salah with Salam.

@Minaz, You can recite any Surrah U remember…, there is no issue on that.
@Safra, many have performed it in two two manner also, but the exact way is to perform 4 at a time… If you are having any physical problem in performing four at a time, you can pray in 2/2…!

You can perform it before Fajar Prayers,,, or any other time which is not makrooh… After Praying Fajar prayers, You can not pray any other prayer till Sunrise… But after sunrise, you can offer this Salatul Tasbih…

    to hvmte brother:
salatul tasbih cab be performed in all times except these times:
when you pray fajr, after fajr till sunrise(tolo) you are not allowed to do this namaz .
the second time that you cant perform this namaz is the time that when sun is on the culmination point (from 12 o clock till two o clock).
the third time that you cant perform this namaz is at the time of sundown (ghoroob).
    thanks

    Assalaam aleykum.
all praise be to allah(s.w).. The authenticity of the aforementioned hadith regarding salatu tasbih is a matter of controversial.. Imam ibn hajar al asqalani who is well known to his majestic knowledge of ilm ar rijaal(jarh wa taadeel) state that, all chains of this narration are weak.. Imam al jawzi says it is fabricated.. Imam shafee, ahmad bin hambal and malik all says it is ghareeb(strange)… So dear brothers and sisters.. We should perform acts of worship which are clearly indicated in islamic religion in accordance to quran and sunnah. From majmoo fatawa of shaykhul islam taqiudeen ibn taymiah states.. Two principles which are fundamental with regards to worship. 1) ikhlas(sincerity) 2) mutaba a( following of teachings of prophet pbuh). He mentioned in it several ayat as evidence for this matter, i can not go into details of it as it will take time.. All i wanted to say is that we should first inquire the authenticity of any acts of worship before angaging in them.. Allah knows best.

Ten causes that result in Allah’s love for His slave and the slave’s love for his Lord – By Imam ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah

1. Reciting the Qur’aan while pondering over its meanings and what is meant by it. 2. Getting closer to Allah by performing voluntary deeds after completing obligatory deeds. This is as is stated in a Hadeeth Qudsi: “My slave continues getting closer to Me by performing voluntary deeds until I love him.” [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree] 3. Continual remembrance of Allah under all circumstances, with one’s tongue, heart and actions. The extent of one’s love of Allah is determined by this. 4. Giving precedence to what He loves over what you love when you are overtaken by your desires. 5. The heart being avid of Allah’s Names, and Attributes and the heart roaming in that garden of knowledge. 6. observing Allah’s kindness, goodness and bounties, both hidden and open. 7. And this is the most wonderful, the heart being soft, subdued and meek before Allah. 8. Being alone with Allah during the time when the Lord descends during the last portion of the night while reading His Book and ending that by asking for forgiveness and repenting. 9. Sitting with the beloved and sincere, benefiting from the most fruitful of their speech. And not to speak unless speaking is more beneficial and you know that it will improve your state and be beneficial to others. 10. Remaining away from every cause that comes between the heart and Allah. These ten causes take the lovers to the station of true love and bring them to their Beloved.
